Reminds me so much of Thomas Sergiovanni’s “two-bridge approach” (Strengthening the Heartbeat). So many principals “attack” student achievement directly (wrote a post about whether we should be “attacking” anything in schools). In any case, Thomas Sergiovanni believes we need to start with teachers, creating an environment that nurtures their growth. They will do the rest.
