Yes! And this is the dangerous game I personally play with my oft-cited Hattie and Wiliam: they appeal to how these methods impact the bottom line on standardized assessments.

Ultimately, we’ll need to move past this, to make our case “without appeal” to measurement. You’re sketching out a compelling case for that here! (Thanks for citing the one time I actually made this claim too!)
