Hoi An Old Town

One of the best parts about being a digital nomad is to work from basically anywhere you want. And if you’re nomading in a city like Hoi An, you’ll be spoiled with sexy-looking architecture, beautiful nature, and a boatload of coffee shops to choose from.

A win-win situation for you, am I right?

Even though it’s fun to explore every shop in town, you will have days when you just need a comfortable workspace and ultra-fast wifi to get you through the day.

So I thought I’d share with you my list of the best places for fellow digital nomads to work from during your stay in Hoi An.

  1. The Hub Hoi An

The #1 spot belongs to Hoi An’s first official coworking space.

Look no further if you need a place dedicated to working nomads with loads of events to make friends. It is a quiet location surrounded by rice paddies, has high-speed and reliable wifi, and has several areas you can work without any distractions.

Not to mention, their outdoor courtyard is a massive plus if you love nature!

The owners, Flo and Lesley, will go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable. They host a handful of fun and business-minded weekly events like games night and empowering coaching sessions.

Add in their daily community lunches, and you’re on your way to being a part of a supportive community while staying focused on your work goals.

Each day at The Hub will leave you feeling inspired, productive, and trust me, you’ll really look forward to going to work every day once you’re there.

2. Snapstay Coffee and Homestay

One of my favorite places on this list, Snapstay Coffee’s usually packed during the day, and for a good reason.

While many local coffee shops in town will only offer a fan and open windows even during the hottest months, Snapstay has air conditioning all year round. After living here during the oppressive 45°C (115°F) summer months, you’ll be grateful for a place like this to escape the heat!

This cafe is a win-win for fellow digital nomads with a sleek interior, tasty food and drinks, great wifi, and a quiet area with comfy bean bag chairs.

And you know that Ernest and his staff really care about their guests too.

One night, my motorbike broke down at his cafe. And he and his landlord immediately helped me find the problem and fix my bike in under an hour.

That’s real generosity right there.

Address: 16 Thái Phiên, Phường Minh An, Hội An, Quảng Nam

Snapstay also hosts semi-frequent events like photo walks, movie nights, and a few fun rounds of karaoke if you’re up to sing your heart out! So if you’re a nomad in town, this is a must-try.

Are you looking for a place to work and take a nice dip in between?

If the answer’s yes, this beachside cafe takes coworking by the beach to a new level.

Sound of Silence is one of many seaside restaurants and cafes that dot Hoi An’s coastline. The outdoor beachside area’s perfect for a nomad who wants to be productive while taking in their daily Vitamin C.

Not to mention the little coy moat that connects the two buildings adds a charming touch.

As the name suggests, Sound of Silence is really a place where you can focus on work without being distracted. The peaceful vibe makes you want to crack open a book, finish your latest project, or just feel the fresh sea breeze alongside one of their signature drinks and pastries.

In fact, it’s one of the few places in town that serves blends from all around the world, so coffee experts, you’re in luck. :)

4. Công Cafe Hoi An

Unlike the other local places I’ve talked about here, Công Cafe’s one of Vietnam’s biggest coffee shop brands.

You can find one in most major cities. But similar to a Starbucks chain, each place has its own unique personality based on whichever city it’s located in. To complete your work in peace, you can expect stable wifi, portable air conditioning, and a well-decorated and homey interior.

Located just a 5-minute walk from Old Town, this bright yellow shophouse turned cafe is an ideal spot if you want to be near all the city’s attractions and amenities.

5. Morning Coffee

A stone’s throw away from some delicious local restaurants, Morning Coffee’s a tiny air-conditioned cafe that you should definitely add to your workspace list.

Though small, this spot’s a trendy hangout for both locals and nomads.

I’ve seen people from all walks of life whenever I’ve been there. There are local housewives chatting away and enjoying their morning teas, groups of high school and college students studying for their next test, and of course, fellow nomads typing away at their keyboards.

Maybe it’s the minimalistic interior, the natural lighting, or the chance to indulge in some delicious brownies. Regardless, this place has the charm, comfortability, and convenience any digital nomad’s looking for when it comes to a perfect workspace.

Address: 166 Nguyễn Trường Tộ, Phường Minh An, Hội An, Quảng Nam

Hours: Monday to Sunday: 6:30AM-10:30PM

Fresh Brownie: 30,000 VND

Banana and Nutella Smoothie: 45,000 VND

Sweet Morning Coffee: 45,000 VND

6. Bonté Cafe

Finally, Bonté is your best option if you’re looking for a place to work that’s a bit out of town but has everything you need as a nomad.

From the outside, it looks like another trendy coffee shop. But once you step in, you realize the entire setup’s made specifically for those looking for a cozy place to get some work done.

The first two floors are open-air and have comfortable tables, free water, and of course, excellent wifi and lots of wall plugs if you have a lot of work for the day.

Pro Tip: Don’t miss out on their air-conditioned coworking area on the third floor. Not only does it have better reception than the other two floors, but you’re also sure to find a quiet, comfortable spot to focus.

But if you’re really looking to deep focus and get away from the heat, they have a free air-conditioned coworking area on the third floor!

I’m telling you, this place has it all.

Since it’s out of the tourist area, expect more local crowd. Whenever I’ve worked out of this shop, I’ve seen local remote workers as well as families celebrating birthdays.

But remember, with a local crowd comes local prices, so enjoy your favorite drinks here without breaking the bank.

Address: 99 Lê Hồng Phong, Tân An, Hội An, Quảng Nam

Hours: Monday to Sunday: 6:30AM-9:30PM

Nomad-Friendly Features

+ dedicated third floor for remote workers and nomads

+ minimalist interior surrounded by greenery everywhere you look

+ Most affordable drinks and desserts on this list

+ Perfect for those who want to get out of the main tourist area

+ a 2-minute walk from restaurants, a supermarket, and other conveniences

Recommended Items + Prices

Ca phê Den (Vietnamese Black Coffee): 15,000 VND (~$0.66 USD)

Matcha Latte : 40,000 VND (~$1.76 USD)

Ca phê trứng (Vietnamese Egg Coffee): 45,000 VND (~$1.80 USD)

My friend, as you can see, you’ll have more than enough places to work from when you visit. And these are by no means the only workspaces in Hoi An. The whole part about nomading is to find those new hidden places and share them with the rest of us!

I hope this gave you a good idea of where to go if you’re still undecided.
