If NY went to statehood the real owners would find a way to rehypothecate its internal value, suck out the cash and bankrupt the State faster than you could say, “Vampire Attack!”. Then the carcass would be dumped for the tax payer to revive with transfusions of cash from loans made by the very people who crashed it. Lessons would be learned, inquiries held, committees tabled, speeches made and finally cuts enforced in an austerity program to pay it all off.
