My Crappy Watch Collection
This is more an exercise in creative writing and learning how to write than informational. All photos are “potato” quality.
Since I am looking for something to write about, I thought a good place to start would be with my wrist.

I started wearing a watch in 2006, well a “real” or “adult” style watch at least. It started simply enough, I wanted a watch, and I thought it should be metal, and kind of cool.
I got a Diver style watch, that was good for “330 Feet”, it was red and silver, and the band looked cool.

The BQ-9284 looked good, and was pretty durable overall. The bezel moves to keep track of your air remaining, it can go 100M without issue, and it had a nice metal bracelet.
What you can’t see very well in my awesome pics, this was an abused watch. In the ten years I have owned this watch, it has done more than a few miles. The clasp has been replaced, with a dual lock diver style, and the battery was replaced. There are scratches in the mineral crystal dial window, the colors on the bracelet have been rubbed off, and I do not go diving.
It was silly for me to have a divers watch, since I am not a diver, so in 2013 I started looking for a replacement watch, for fashion!

This one is just a trinket that I got while I was working in New York. I went to the Hard Rock Cafe, and saw the watch, I liked how it looked in general. The interesting part is I received more compliments on this watch than any of the other pieces I have had since.

This was another purchase while I was traveling. I had seen it when I was home, and when I was traveling, and I decided that I wanted it. It is another Fossil watch, I have a few of them, until this year I was liking the durability and reliability of them.
Make no mistake, this is a serious fashion watch, it is HUGE!! It is a 45mm watch, with a 24mm Genuine Leather band. This watch I wore almost daily for 3 years. That is the second band, the second internal movement, and the original scratched mineral glass dial display. I sent this watch off for repair from Fossil, with their outstanding 11 year warranty, and it returned to me. With the new movement, and a bunch of gouges in the case back, like a returning war hero. Overall though, I still love this watch, but I don’t usually wear it with the leather strap.

This is a pure “LOOK AT ME DAMN IT!” watch. It is another huge, 44mm with a 24mm band, in “Rose Gold” with a black rubber strap. Because of the sheer gaudiness of this watch, it is rare that I wear it. This is a good accent piece when you want to look like you are put together, or showing off. I have had the battery replaced once in the 5 years I have owned it. It is also a “first gen” of the Marine Star, has the Boluva logo at 12 o’clock. I have seen people wearing similar styled watches on the daily, and my belief is that is a little too flashy for the daily wear.

I love the look of this watch. The bold edges, the high polished steel, the black leather with white stitching. I thought it would be an awesome replacement watch for daily wear. This was a case of my wants not being practical. It is a bold watch, sharp as a knife, big as a semi truck. very “manly” looking. Too big. I do not have small hands or wrists, but this thing still looks huge. It is a 45mm with a 24mm strap but the case height of 15mm is a bit much. The crown bits my hand like a vampire trying to be subtle. The weight feels like I am lugging around a lead weight. It is not a subtle watch. It is not a light watch. I like this watch, but would not buy it again. Live and learn. Also, There is a lug that was missing since I got the watch, and it is two years old and has been in for service because one of the markers broke off.

This is one of those things you tend to stumble upon. I found this Vitorinox in a pawn shop in Santa Monica. I wasn’t even looking for a watch at the time, but I saw this and fell in lust with it. It is a smaller watch compared to my other monsters, it is 41mm with a 21mm strap. It is also a little nicer than my fashion watches. Ok so it is like comparing a 90 Chevy Barrette to a 2001 BMW M5. They both do the job, but one does it with more swagga. The strap on this watch isn’t the original, and that is all the history I have with this one. It is a nicer sapphire dial display, and extra clear. What I can say is that in the dark, it glows so pretty, like Muhammad Ali levels of glow. I normally wear this one with a different strap also.

This last one was a gift, in a few ways. It is the Timex weekender, and it looks really nice. There isn’t much about this one, it has survived a trip to the ocean without issue.
Well if you made it this far, there is something on this page you really care about. I feel that this writing was not the greatest, and it was kind of boring. I should do a proper review page of each watch, and get my style sorted out.
This falls in lines of the “Just do it!” publishing. So there will be a few more things that I will publish to medium as well.
