Agreed.

Exhaustingly. Sadly. Defeatedly. Agreed.

I studied the holocaust at the university. I taught American History pre-1865. I know what “Utopia” was about. I promise that’s not what I am after.

What I am after is fairness. Fairness in how our laws are applied. Fairness in how home loans and medical treatment is evaluated. I want mass incarceration STOPPED. I want prison and drug war reform. I want law enforcement to stop killing my black brothers and sisters with indifference AND without it too.

I don’t give a good god damn how people feel and think. For me it’s all about how they act — the things that can be seen. I’m after measurable change. I’m after this country becoming — for once in its tragic history — what it claims to be:

With liberty and JUSTICE for ALL.

And I may never see this in my lifetime, but I will not stop fighting for it, just because I see evidence all around me that indicates it is a lost cause.

My family members deserve my attention, my love and my respect. They have a right to ask me to be the change I seek. I will not change direction unless my leadership — the oppressed people I am standing behind and for tell me that it is time to do so.

I stand with them, because I believe in them and because I believe 100% in my bones that it is the right thing to do.

Victory be damned. I’m not giving up. And there is no expectation that other people who look like me do the same.

I know what a mess this is and I agree we are definitely on the ledge of Fascism. I’m not sure I’d say it is aligned quite with the Russians or the Italians.

Although it is markedly less organized than the Germans. No, I think America has its very own brand of fascism and it is a blend of all three + one more

It’s polite, it’s covert (like the French — Vichy Regime), it is vicious like Stalin’s and it is indifferent like Mussolini’s. It is predicated on Hitler’s brand of supremacy and certainly just as hallucinative.

Very very scary.

Which is why I cannot give up and I don’t think you should either, nderground.
