I am so ignorant.

I knew nothing about this young man’s murder. It is horrific to think he was already fighting for his life because of the crash. It was miraculous that he survived. There aren’t words to describe the tragedy of his death.

His mother’s words tore me inside out. Especially her promise to give Pooh to her son’s first born. She is living a nightmare she did nothing to cause. She doesn’t deserve that and neither do his children.

What was done to this young man is wicked. I almost said, “at least they charged the officer…” but that makes no sense. There’s no ‘at least’ anything when a human being is senselessly murdered because he needed help while wearing black skin.

Racism is pure evil. His mother lost a part of her heart and the rest of humanity did too. I don’t understand how we can fool ourselves into thinking we are whole when we continue on cultivating a culture in which stories like this are commonplace.

We suck.
