I figured you’d respond that way. After you watch CitizenFour, you will be hungry.
Feed yourself with Greenwald’s Book “No Where to Hide.”
If you are a Twitterer (ha!) you can follow Edward Snowden. Last I checked he’s followed by a ton of people, but he only follows one account —
The NSA.
He’s funny as shit.
The docs are on Intercept’s website so you can see them, but the same goes for Greenwald’s book and there’s a lot more context in the book.
The three — Laura Poitras, Edward Snowden & Greenwald have done many an interview, Snowden is now doing public appearances via ‘robot.’ It’s quite entertaining. You can find that on YouTube.
The docs I linked earlier — about the Fed stalking Dr. King, will tell you much about how long this has really been happening. They did the same to Mohammad Ali! Because?
Because Ali said the war in Vietnam was wrong — publicly.
I KNOW! That is not supposed to be a crime here, is it?
And that’s exactly the point and the problem, isn’t it?
Oh, and don’t be thinking Snowden was the first whistleblower OR who will be the last. He wasn’t and he won’t be… there is much more to come — its alluded at the end of CitizenFour.
The opening of that movie is the man who wrote the algorithm “stellar wind” he was the guy who kicked off the metadata part and it got out of control from there.
Can’t think of his name at the moment, it’s in the movie and the book so you can catch it there. Anyway, he and about 5 others working at the NSA at the time tried to leak and do what they could to stop the madness. He was not convicted (I believe) but he was raided at gun point and arrested.
Those guys did some special on channel 9 (I know right?) it was streaming on Netflix a while, can’t remember the name.
When you do get his name, just put it in your google machine. I’d recommend Tor browse, but evidentially NSA got through Tor too.
It’s an unholy fuckshitshow.
There’s too much to look at. This is just the tip of the iceberg. By the way, this leak compared to WikiLeaks (although Snowden was basically rescued from prison by WL) — the way the information and the ‘what’ was leaked are key difference.
WikiLeaks put everything out at once. Snowden didn’t do that, for reasons explained in the movie and Greenwald’s book.
Tell me what you think. Let’s keep talking about it.
