I think we do that everyday.

Remember how this started? Inside I felt angry. Neither you or I knew the reason for that, here, we may have just uncovered it. (I got upset).

I know why this time! Yeyyy!

I am upset because people don’t know how women, all minorities really, have to manage their emotions all day long. I promise you, the beliefs this guy held were no secret to the women and minorities he worked with — none of them were surprised I assure you.

Minorities get a bad rap after we show it that we've had enough of being invalidated, ignored, invited to shrink ourselves every single day. We know who has these beliefs because of how they behave towards us. And we control ourselves most of the time. It takes a ton of energy to do that all damn day long.

And it sucks that we don’t get credit for this effort and energy we spend controlling ourselves, being respectful to those who do not respect us. At least if they had to tell me to my face I would get to feel less crazy for the gaslighting that goes along with it.

But, I can only speak for myself. And you’re absolutely right that a business is not the place to conduct social warfare.

I’m not upset with you, by the way, just at the thing. Its painful when your efforts are unknown to others, when you’re not seen for who you truly are and what you’re actually capable of… this is one place where we do a ton of work, but get zero credit. Does that make sense?
