I used to work for a hosting company (that shall remain nameless).

The engineers would talk about interviewing people before the candidate would arrive. I heard things like:

  1. I wonder how long it will take to make this one cry.
  2. We are vicious because we have to protect our customers.
  3. It’s not even fair the torture we are about to put this guy through.
  4. Do you remember that guy who told X or Y person to shove their questions up their ass and then hung up on us?
  5. Do you remember when that guy couldn’t answer the question and just got up and left the room without saying a word?

Hilarious. Right? 😡

There were 3 women who worked there. I was one of them. Most of the boys were white. Diversity wasn’t important. Also, the turn over rate was 60% per 6 months and the company was 4 years old — turn over from start to when I left = 98%.

You’re not alone. You’re also not crazy. They do that shit on purpose at some orgs and it is gross.

Good luck.
