This is a brilliant question. I have no idea. But the question is a stroke of genius in its truest form.

Someone should do this…

The ‘had it never been enacted' question is particularly intriguing to me. I wouldn’t know where to start with that question. Or maybe… would we…

  • Look at the healthcare cost trend table
  • Adjust up for inflation
  • Adjust up again for the lack of accountability related to pharmaceutical companies
  • Adjust again based on numbers related to ER vs Urgent Care center visits

I guess that’s a start anyway. I wonder what pieces have already been done. You’d have to remove benefit disbursements and overlay a scale based on type of coverage (I think), but that shouldn’t be too hard since the actuaries and benefit tables already exist.

— My head hurts now—

As to the second part —

Do we even have a working list of the things that aren’t going so well? What perspective would take precedent in that data set? Are the data quantifiable? Would it be possible to agree on priorities?

Ugh. Sounds complex. No wonder talking points and 40 character tweets are focused on more readily. The work requires actual thinking.

Hmmmm.

Oh, and then how could we take all the data and jam it into talking points and 40 character tweets so that people who don’t like to think could also understand it?
