This is exactly how I feel too.
Thank you Abby Franquemont. I cried reading this… it is so frustrating to sit and wait for someone, anyone and say, “THAT’S ENOUGH!”
Or my favorite:
“Are you fucking kidding me right now?!?”
The real deal is not seeing ourselves clearly. We must do this. If we do not know ourselves, we do not see ourselves, we cannot begin to hope to see others clearly.
We must understand who we have been, who we are today and who we want to become. I want to change! I want to grow! I will take responsibility for what has transpired here, because if I don’t, no one ever will.
And if no one ever does, it will continue to be the greatest circle jerk of blame the world has ever seen.
“I’m not going to stop the wheel. I’m going to break the wheel.”
If I do not succeed I will at the very least weaken one spot, so those who come after me will have a space to aim.
What I will never do is be a cog in that wheel EVER AGAIN.
And I thought I never was that, but I was! I was a cog. Because I did my part when I kept my mouth shut, despite my bones feeling the injustice my eyes observed.
NEVER AGAIN.
Oh fucking hell no, I will not be quiet. Oh fucking hell no, I will not absolve you by saying, “not all…”
Because that isn’t true. It’s time to give the problem back to those for which it rightfully belongs.
Racism and all the injustice that it breeds is a White People Problem. We created it, we fed it and it is high time we own that and dismantle it.
Social ostracizing is one weapon I will wield. We have to start treating racists like they treated people with Ebola.
YOU FUCKERS ARE QUARANTINED.
People act the way they do because it is acceptable for them to do so.
It is no longer acceptable to say things like, “we didn’t see what happened before the camera was turned on so we don’t know if the shooting was wrong…”
NOPE TO THE MOTHER FUCKING NOPE.
It is unequivocally un-American to presume guilt before innocence until a trial, with a jury of PEERS, says otherwise. It is unequivocally un-American to not have separation of powers. Officers don’t need that responsibility, nor do they want it.
If there’s a question in anyone’s mind whether or not these men “should have been executed on a public street,” that person is a traitor to this country, our constitution and everything we stand for. PERIOD.
That’s how this is gonna go for people who are near me. I’m glad you are thinking through what your methods will be.
Would love to write with you on tactics.
