Low Motivation? Here’s How To Get Motivated In Under 2 Minutes

I do my best work when I motivated. I just happen to be motivated every day at 8:30 AM.

Productivity and motivation are going to be forever intertwined.

One cannot exists without the other.

If you find yourself unmotivated on a Tuesday afternoon, no amount of lifehacks, time management apps and calendars are going to help you.

You need to spark that internal fire again.

But…

A lot of people believe that it either takes too much time to do it, or it is flat out impossible. That is why they never even try. They wait to get inspired.

They are wasting their time.

You need to take matters in your own hands.

Here’s how:

Getting yourself motivated does not have to be hard, or a lengthy process. You just need the right process. Here’s mine:

1. Find One Benefit Of Taking Action

Your brain is already a brainstorming machine (just think of the last time you procrastinated something and how many reasons you came up with for not taking action).

Use it.

Start by figuring out just a single benefit of doing what you don’t feel like doing.

You are going to be more healthy, feel better about yourself, get an A, not have to wash dishes for another day… the benefit is going to be different depending on the circumstances.

2. Benefit Stacking

Now that you have your benefit, think of a second one that is connected to the first one.

If jogging is what you don’t feel like doing, for example, your initial benefit would be that you are going to get more healthy. A second one that is derived from the first one is that you are going to have more energy.

Now, come up with a third one that is connected to the second one and keep going.

That is benefit stacking.

You have more energy. That means that you are going to absolutely kill that presentation tomorrow. Maybe you get a raise. Now, you have more money that you can invest. Maybe you invest them in a white-hot startup that gets sold to Facebook a year down the road and you make a few million dollars. You can now retire on the beach and never have to jog again.

Phew!

You went from jogging to retiring rich in a split second.

It takes just a few benefits to get the ball rolling and then your natural brainstorming capabilities would take over and keep piling up benefits. Somewhere in this process, you are going to feel the scales tip and your motivation getting back. By the time you are done, you are going to be racing to put your jogging shoes on.

Time spent, 2 minutes or less.

3. No Need To Keep It Real

This is one area where “keeping it real” is the worst thing you can do.

You might not retire rich at the age of 30 just because you took a jog… if it was only that easy.

It doesn’t matter.

The whole point of this exercise is to get yourself motivated and sparked up. The wilder the dreams, the more motivation (and faster) you are going to get.

Plus, it is way more fun to dream big!

Your Turn

And that is how you get yourself fired up in just a few minutes.

You can use this simple process every time you need an extra dose of motivation. It works every single time!

Don’t be fooled by how simple it is.

Use it.
