Almost every industry today use custom-made brushes for numerous purposes. Food preparation industries, construction, manufacturing, maintenance industries — they all use brushes of varied sizes and types according to their business needs. Thus custom made brushes have an extended number of applications that can be tweaked and expanded as new methods and strategies arise every day. The regions in the industries where brushes are mainly used are-

  • Welding or surface preparation
  • Painting and coat application
  • Metal deburring
  • Removing paint, coatings and rust
  • Thread cleaning
  • Surface finishing on a variety of materials

Types Of Brushes

You can several types of industrial brushes, examples are-

An abrasive brush is mainly used for metal finishing, cleaning rust, oxides, denibbing plastic, light deburring and defuzzing panels of woods. This type of brush comes with an abrasive grit covered with an extruded nylon filament. They have a quite a large selection of grit sizes available to control the finish as well as the functionality for deburring, surface finishing, cleaning and edge blending. The abrasive brush is manufactured with the help of the steel components and integral core designs with a rigid fit. The cores are placed dynamically and balanced properly to assure vibration. The cylinder abrasive brush and the power abrasive brush are generally made up of abrasive nylon, that offers flexibility to the design and the conformability to where there are irregular surfaces.

A sanding spiral brush is specifically used for smoothing the wooden surfaces, they consist of an abrasive paper that rotates on horizontal axes that offer and cleans the wooden surface and smoothens it.

A metal brush is generally used for burnishing the fine details and fitting into the tight areas. This kind of brushes generally contain bristles made up of stainless steel of sot brass. Metal brushes are also manufactured using phosphor, copper or bronze. The metal brushes’ fibres are laced tightly for better fibre retention and durability.

An organic fibre brush is generally made up of horsehair, and the bristles of the brushes are soft and natural. The organic fibre brushes are generally used to clean those sensitive areas where hard-fibre metallic brushes are not applicable.

The synthetic bristle brush is manufactured by chemical means, they work best on rough surfaces like the parking lots and sidewalks. They can be used both indoors and outdoors, similarly in wet and dry conditions. These brushes are generally water and chemical resistant.

Applications

Industrial brushes are used for several purposes- they are used in conveyor washing, glass washing, blanket washing and others. The metal brushes are used in electrostatic discharge sensitive (ESD) environments till the time the brush remains saturated and the user remains grounded.

The guideline provides a list of brushes used in industries and their applications. Know your preference before purchasing a brush and then select accordingly.
