5 Creative Decluttering Tips and Ideas

Living a simple and uncluttered life generates more energy and concentration in our passion. The decluttering tips today are about taking advantage of vertical space, grouping, and labeling.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#1 Use Pullout Cabinets and Shelves⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Getting organized in tiny space is all about taking advantage of vertical space. This DIY corner cabinet on the left is built by Andrea and Jacob Faw. “It’s more efficient use of a corner cabinet than a lazy Susan,” Andrea says.

A pullout kitchen cabinet can also house necessary kitchen towels, paper towel, sponge, detergent within arm’s reach.

There are endless ways to use pullout shelves and cabinets. It can provide convenient storage for spices and cooking oils. The all-in-one pet station helps keeping the house clutter free.

Using dividers is also a great way to sort your cookie sheets, trays, pans, cutting boards in a vertical way instead of stacking them together. Alternatively, you can also use a pullout shelving that makes it easier to retrieve cooking appliance.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#2 Line Drawers⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lay a patterned piece of paper into the drawer to add some personal style and unexpected pattern. Gift wrap, wallpaper, fabric are great choices for drawer liners.

I am using placemats as my drawer liner. The best thing about placemat is they are just the perfect size for a kitchen drawer. For gift wrapping paper, I would recommend Rifle Paper Co. 3 rolled sheets are sold at $8.50.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#3 Use Velcro Dots to Stabilize Containers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When you slide the drawer in and out, the containers might slip out of its place. You just need a few pieces of adhesive-backed velcro dots on the back of each container. You can buy it from Amazon or Walmart($2.96 for package of 15).

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#4 Use Velcro Strips to Organize Cords and Cables⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And maybe even label your charging cords using patterned washi tape. Washi(和紙) is a style of Japanese paper made from gampi tree fibers. You can tear them by hand since they are thin paper.

Unlike regular tapes, Washi tape doesn’t leave a sticky mess. They are affordable(generally $1~3 per roll) and come with amazing patterns.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#5 Use Hanging Folders to Declutter Paper⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Paper clutter, coming from bills, receipts, medical result, taxes, give us unexpected stress and anxiety. It can be easily solved by using colored hanging folders to differentiate different types of paper. And also use a label marker to label each folder.

It will become neat, easy to find, and maybe a home decor using a golden basket.

Getting organized will help you minimize the time spent on finding things. You will also gradually find yourself more resistant to last minute purchase and impulse shopping.
