Thank you! My mother, who has been going to the same pain management clinic for the last 20 years without any problems, was told today that in the next few months they will be taking her off of her medications completely because of upcoming laws that will be put in place by a bunch of people who have no medical experience whatsoever and absolutely no clue what it means to live with constant pain. She was offered no recourse, either. She is 60 years old and has never abused her medications, yet she is about to be cut off cold turkey because of a complete misunderstanding of the epidemic.
The reason we have the situation that we currently do is not because of legitimate pain patients. It is because of greedy people who started pill mills and got thousands of people addicted to medications that they didn’t need. Then, when those mills were shut down they did nothing to help those who were addicted — they just put them out into the wind and gave heroin dealers the best clients. Now we have an overdose epidemic and people are wondering why!
Sorry for my little rant here, I’m just increasingly annoyed by this subject lately. It’s refreshing though to see I’m not alone!
