My under $1000 Photography Setup
In 2016 I bought my first camera which was a Nikon D5200. I wanted to level up from the Mobile photography game and get into the real photography, where I would have more control over the image compositions while taking a photo.
I didn’t realise at first that it’s not the only thing i would need for photography, along with the camera slowly I bought an array of things to accompany it. Looking back now I would say they were the basics and my investment in those products was worth it indeed.

- Camera — Nikon D5200 (It’s been discontinued as of 2018 when I’m writing this, instead you can buy Nikon D5300 which has WiFi sensor built in), this camera has a flip out screen which is amazing to record vlog style videos as well.

- External Hard Drive to dump raw images — WD Elements 2TB HDD
- A Sturdy case to hold your memory cards — JCC
- A tripod — Benro
- An additional battery — It’s a boon. (You’ll know when you are out for a photo walk for more than couple of hours).
- A Photo processing and editing software — Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop is the best you can get as of now
