Understanding Docker (Part I) — Docker File, Image and Container

  1. First, we need to create a DockerFile which is the script of instructions like instruction to install dependencies.
  2. Run the DockerFile to create a Docker Image. Docker Image will contain everything(binaries, files, dependencies, etc) as instructed in DockerFile. The docker image is now ready to be shared and used for building containers.
  3. Run the docker image to create a container. A docker container is the running instance of a docker image.
