Seize the Day
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today,” Jesus
Every morning I stumble bleary-eyed into the bathroom and cup my hands under the faucet to get a gulp of water. Quickly the water overflows and splashes on the sink. As I raise my hands to drink nearly all the water slips back into the sink. So I repeat. I could get a glass, but I never do. This the first ritual of my morning.
Trying to hold on to life is much the same. Evolution happens whether we want it to or not. Life foists change upon us. It is futile to attempt to stop. Friends come and go. Best moments never last. Some things can be rekindled for an instant. But it is a mere shadow of the glory that once was.
The best things grow into something better. Seasoning brings beauty. River of time smoothes rough edges. Grit and dirt eroded and something of rare beauty emerges.
But will time erode the good and leave bad or will it erode the bad and leave the good? No one knows. So the best there is maybe today.
Make the most of it.
