Emperor Lounge at AKL
My review.
I am travelling today with Emirates codeshare flight booked through Qantas and arrived a significant 2 and a half hours early for my flight. I had no guest passes left for the Qantas club so decided to check out the Emperor lounge operated by AKL Airport. When I arrived, I was greeted by a lovely staff member who took my money with a grin and showed me around the lounge. There are two sides to the lounge, one with tea, coffee and hot chocolate facilities and one with a buffet and alcohol. I decided to sit with the food. The whole place has a lovely professional vibe to it. The food is delectable and the wines are just top notch. Included in the NZD55.00 entry fee (or NZD49.00 online price) is free wifi and the above mentioned buffet and alcohol selections. It is aimed, I feel, at leisure travelers whom don’t have an airline lounge membership or a top tier frequent flyer status. The whole place is lovely and clean with showers (should you so need them) and bathrooms. Lovely place, although, doesn’t exactly live up to an airline lounge. For example. The Qantas club just above has a far more extensive buffet service, with fruits, cheese, cold and hot foods, alongside a wider selection of cold and hot drinks. While I would reccommend the lounge to any leisure traveller, If given the choice, I would enter my own airline’s lounge.
