Yes, you read that right. The one thing that recruiters wished they had more of is TIME. There is never enough time to finish all the tasks a recruiter ought to do. From screening the countless applications that come in to job postings on the career site & various job sites to scheduling interviews, nagging interviewers to enter their feedback in the ATS, to corresponding with candidates, proposing offers, following up on relocation requests for outstation candidates, Background verification, document collection, onboarding, making reports, hiring strategies for teams, roles, multiple meetings — and the list is not even half done.

This is why pretty much every recruiter would wish he/she had extra hours in their day to get everything (atleast most of the tasks) done.

The one task that a lot of recruiters don’t think of as their favourite task would be resume screening. It isn’t a surprise. It takes up way too much time. Also, roughly about 85% of the applications in response to a job posting are not relevant.

And looking through those hundreds of resumes in the ATS to find the handful of resumes of potential hires is nothing short of working a gold mine, digging through coal for hours on end, before you ‘strike gold’.

Manually screening resumes in the ATS is nothing short of digging through coal for hours before finding ‘gold’

Some ATSs have inbuilt resume screening tools which automatically extract relevant keywords from a given job description and then find matching resumes from the applications. While these tools initially automated some of the manual screening done by recruiters, they’ve been less useful over the years as candidates have learned to game the system through ‘keyword stuffing’.

This is where Artificial Intelligence comes in. There is huge scope for tasks within the recruiting workflow, especially the repetitive, high-volume ones (like resume screening) to be automated.

Param.ai is one such AI-enabled platform that helps recruiters discover, match and engage at scale.

Instead of keyword matching (which can be outsmarted by applicants using ‘keyword stuffing’), Param.ai, ‘screens’ on the basis of their relevance to the historic and current hiring patterns of the organization for the given role within a matter of a few seconds. Not just screening, Param also stackranks the resumes based on various parameters. This means with the top candidates earmarked, recruiters can start engaging candidates in the stackranked order.

So what might eat up 3–4 hours of a recruiter’s time is getting done in a few minutes. The result: It frees up recruiters’ time.

And this is what recruiters (who are always short on time) can do with the time they save:

· Solving recruitment problems through creativity

· Influencing hiring managers and candidates

· Planning for proactive hiring instead of reactive backfilling

· Strategizing hiring based on future growth and revenue.

· Work on initiatives such and reducing the bias in recruiting etc

· And the biggest beneficiary of this would be candidate engagement, the most important part of the candidate lifecycle, especially in a candidate-driven market.

Stackranked candidates is just one of the many features of Param.ai. We would be doing more posts on the various features. In the meanwhile, watch the video to know more about how Param.ai can help you #superchargeyourATS.
