With an upcoming game tomorrow night against the Flyers, here is a recap of the Bruins lightning game: The two teams met for the last time in the regular season on Saturday. The Lightning beat the Bruins 5–3, with two short handed goals against the home team.

David Pastrnak scored his 48th goal of the season to bring the Bruins one point away from tying the game. Nikita Kucherov secured the Lightning’s win with scoring an empty net goal to bring the Lightning to a two point lead. The game became action packed as regulation went on.

The game was full of “Old-time hockey” according to Boston.com as well as the spectators. With 94 total penalty minutes throughout the whole game, the Bruins did not back down once. In the first period Chris Wagner got into a fight against Barclay Goodrow right out of the penalty box. Brad Marchand had a four on one battle in the corner and his teammates jumped in to help him out.

“We always put a lot of emphasis to have each other’s back and play as a unit and as a team,” said Bruins captain Zdeno Chara on the teamwork the Bruins portrayed during the game.

With the large amount of penalties the Bruins penalty box was overflowing, and always welcoming in other players.

The Bruins had their work cut out for them against the Lightning. The refs missed some big calls such as hooks and a boarding call. But, with all of the chaos on the ice most of the big penalties were called well.

The Bruins played well as a team and just needed pressure to step up and play like a real team. With having two short handed goals scored against them it would put a damper on most players focus and energy. The Bruins were able to make a comeback and then they lost their energy as the third period continued.

The Bruins are still in the number one spot of the Atlantic Division with 98 points. With a game against the Flyers tomorrow at 7 pm the Bruins will have to keep their aggressive playing methods up since the Flyers are on a nine game winning streak, and hopefully the Bruins can get a win.
