Here are four hockey podcasts that His/Her Hockey think you might enjoy listening to.

1. “Spittin’ Chiclets” by Ryan Whitney, Paul Bissonnette, and Rear Admiral

This podcast is comprised of former NHLers Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonette, along with Barstool Sports writer Rear Admiral. A part of the Barstool Sports blog, this show gives their opinions on what is going on in the NHL. In their recent episode, they interviewed Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews and talked about his relationship with Justin Bieber. The podcast offers a cool look inside NHL player’s lives from around the league. It’s an entertaining and funny podcast that offers opinions and great interviews with something enjoyable for any fan of the NHL.

2. “Our Line Starts” by NBC Sports

This podcast features National Hockey League commentators talking about the latest and biggest stories around the NHL every week. In episode 19, they talked about their thoughts on the various trades around the NHL after the deadline. Another interesting topic they discussed was David Ayres, the emergency backup goalie for the Carolina Hurricanes, helped defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs after his team’s two goalies left the game with injuries. This podcast is unique because the hosts change every week, so it keeps the podcast fresh with different ideas from various commentators. It also offers behind-the-scenes content and interviews that make this podcast worth listening to.

3. “Puck Soup” by Greg Wyshynski, Sean McIndoe, and Ryan Lambert

This podcast is about all aspects of hockey; from what is happening on the ice, to what is going on with the fans. “The boys” are all involved in hockey, Wyshynski is apart of ESPN, McIndoe is involved with “The Athletic”, and Lambert is with Yahoo sports. With hockey backgrounds they are able to discuss what is happening in the NHL with games, players, and the fans. The episode called “Gritty Reboot, Ask us anything” talks about the Philadelphia Flyers mascot, Alex Ovechkin aiming for 700 goals, the Professional Hockey Writers award ballots, and a question and answer with the boys. Having multiple topics in one show allows for a broader audience to want to listen to the show. It is also interesting with a question and answer since they will be answering any question a listener has. The show should be listened to since it had three people putting in input and even has guests that may not even be involved in hockey.

“ESPN On Ice With Wyshynski and Kaplan” By Greg Wyshynski and Emily Kaplan

This podcast talks about the NHL and the hockey culture with big names in the league. With talking to ESPNs experts as well as hockey fans they get all areas of topics covered when it comes to hockey. The episode named “Inside the NHL’s Alleged Head Coaching Abuses” brings in Mina Kimes to talk about coaching abuse allegations within the NHL. Many of the episodes have overlaps such as “Anthony Stewart on NHL Abuse”. Stewart used to play for one of the coaches that resigned amid the allegations, having guests that are or used to be involved brings credibility to the show as well as the speakers. It should be listened to since it is full of opinions as well as facts that many hockey fans would enjoy and benefit from.

By: Ron Colman and Samantha Doucette- two sophomores at Salem State University who are studying communications and enjoy the game of hockey.
