My new learning environment
Well, its week 2 BootCamp and I finally made it. Through all the hard work and dedication, it finally paid off. I love the place, Andela, it has a ‘homely’ setting, everyone is very helpful, understanding and at first glance; I knew this is the place I would want to grow to become a world class developer. But I was not able to adapt as quick as I thought to the new environment. After a long previous week of learning, programming and reflection, I finally went out there and experienced my new team and the Andela Fellows.
If you have been following my blogs, I am sure today you may have thought I got it all under control, made more progress than I did before; but I would have to burst your bubble; it wasn’t a bed of roses, neither was it a land of milk and honey.
Today was an ‘odd’ day for me. I was able to engage with my new team members and learn more about them. My progress however was stagnated, I know it’s because of my new environment which personally, takes for me to settle in. The facilitators and sessions helped me settle in eventually by the end of the day, which I am glad for their support.
Tomorrow will be a new day; and I chose to go toe-to-toe with Andela, so I got to break a leg. I wouldn’t lie to you, I was a bit intimidated by all the professionals, even in my current cohort. As for me, still an amateur, still loading my right cannon, calculating my time and strategically taking my time. Gunning for a honorable mention when I present my project on Friday. Perfection is key.
