The Facebook Messenger bot platform is in it’s infancy stage and Facebook is publishing new APIs and features frequently. I think it’s unfair to compare a 2 month old platform to Google. The weather bot can easily become substantially better if Facebook provided the user’s location for example (rather than having to ask the user). The weather bot can be more useful than Google by providing weather alerts in real-time, personalized daily briefings etc. For shopping, I think Operator is a better example of how the chat-UI can be better than Google for more complex shopping queries (yes Operator is currently a hybrid of human/bot, but it shows what the experience can be like with a more powerful AI).
