Johan Cruyff passed away on Thursday following a fight with cancer, aged 68, and the football world has flocked to pay tribute to the Dutch great.

Cruyff is widely considered as one of the game’s greatest ever players, winning three back-to-back European Cups with Ajax and managing Barcelona to their first triumph in the competition.

A host of clubs and players, from past and present, left their sentiments on Twitter, with tributes ranging from “true football royalty” to hailing his ability as a player, coach and “teacher”.
