Small Catholic Church in Chickasaw, Alabama that my great-grandfather helped to build. Its the parish I grew up with and its the center of my family’s spiritual life. It serves as a hub to keep everybody connected no matter how far off we go or busy we get. Its the place I took my first communion and where my family goes for feast days, Christmas, and Easter before celebrating at my grandmother’s house. Its nothing fancy or grand, but it does feel like home. The people are nice, know you by your name, and are happy to see you when you visit. Catholicism is really core to me as a person because it influences my spirituality, family life, volunteering, work ethic, and more. Faith is part of my family and its baked into everyday, small moments.
