Lomachenko vs Crolla: Lomachenko vs Crolla: Glove row rages at weigh-in ahead of Staples Center WBA and WBO title clash Watch Lomachenko against Crolla in Los Angeles from 3am this Saturday on Sky Sports. Everything you need to know about Vasyl Lomachenko vs Anthony Crolla.

On a Friday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Vasyl “Hi-Tek” Lomachenko (12–1, 9 KO) will defend his WBO and WBA Lightweight titles against Anthony “Million Dollar” Crolla (34–6–3, 13 KO). Usually, a fighter of Lomachenko’s ilk wouldn’t fight on a Friday, but this Top Rank card will kick off a huge combat sports weekend for ESPN.

UFC 236 happens on Saturday in Atlanta and the MMA promotion has a massive deal with ESPN as well. On Friday, Lomachenko and Crolla will be the main sports program with the NBA Playoffs not due to start until Saturday, and there are no conflicts with ESPN’s combat sports partners.

The event will not be broadcast on the ESPN. Instead, it will be streamed on ESPN+. The undercard begins at 8pm ET, but the main presentation starts at 11 PM ET. Lomachenko has battled a shoulder injury, but he returned to the ring with a victory over Jose Pedraza in December to add the WBO title to his list of accomplishments.

Lomachenko sits near the top of most sensible pound-for-pound lists, and his bouts are an attraction.

Crolla is the former WBA champion, but he lost his title to Jorge Linares back in September 2016 and subsequently lost the rematch as well. Lomachenko lifted the WBA belt off Linares in 2018 at Madison Square Garden via KO. Crolla has won three straight bouts since the second loss to Linares and he will be looking to solve the Lomachenko riddle. Most recently, Crolla scored a unanimous-decision win over Daud Yordan in November.

Crolla is a Manchester native and Friday’s bout with Lomachenko will be only his second in the United States.

Up to now, only Orlando Salido owns a win over Lomachenko as a professional. We’ll see if Crolla is capable of joining elite company, regaining the WBA title and adding the WBO strap as well.
