Hi Stuart! Hope you’re well. I guess the short answer is I don’t know but I doubt it. If women formed half the IT graduate numbers in 1979, what has changed from an evolutionary perspective? For me personally, I don’t dwell on it. I see the potential for huge economic disadvantage if women don’t move quickly and at scale into these high value growth areas. In 20 years time, maybe less, it will be the equivalent of not knowing how to read and write. And speaking to people who do targeted work in STEM education reveals girls take up these subjects at far greater numbers to excellent results than when we do nothing. That suggests that whatever the role of biology, it’s not a decisive factor. It’s an interesting topic that I’ll try to dig deeper into in another post!
