The future of Social Media Marketing

Where will the next big trend for branding your business come from? We have seen the rise of platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. All incredible, market leading platforms that allow businesses, big and small, to interact with their customers on a daily basis. But the thing that marketers are best at is ruining things. With the rise of these platforms people have caught on and now everyone and their arts and crafts making grandma has a Facebook page advertising the service or product they have to offer. So, my question to you is: how big of an impact do you think you’re creating with those three logos at the bottom (or top) right hand of your website?
Nearly 150 million people use it everyday. Six out of ten Americans are on it. It has a grasp larger than Twitter. It will allow brands to interact with their customers in the most intimate way possible, being a part of the life they’re sharing. And, it hasn’t been ruined yet. It’s Snapchat.
The great thing about Snapchat is that it is personal. Through the use of a well-placed geo-filter, a consumer can have a meaningful interaction with your brand in person that can then be sent around the world at the touch of their screen. By managing your brands own Snapchat, the people who love your brand can follow what you do and the people who make it happen. Snapchat allows for an authentic experience following your brand, and in today’s world, authenticity means a lot. These meaningful brand interactions will lead to increased brand awareness as your following grows and your filters spread. Which in turn will lead to increased revenue as consumers’ act on those meaningful interactions. The success of your business’s social media branding can no longer be measured in the number of likes you have on Facebook, it now rests on the number of meaningful interactions you create, and Snapchat will be the best way to create them.
The big players already know the value that Snapchat holds when it comes to creating brand value. They know that they can reach thousands, hundreds of thousands, and even millions of people in an intimate way and they are beginning to act on that. I am here to say that small businesses also deserve the chance to reach their consumers in such a way, before Snapchat is ruined for all by the big guys. So before you write your next Facebook post or draft a Tweet, make a Snapchat account. Experiment with it and realize the power that you can have to effect the lenses through which consumers view and interact with your brand.
Be authentic and visible, and you will reap the rewards.
