I agree with Conrad. The author seems to define happiness as pleasure. I believe happiness is much broader than that. I’ve been in situations where I’m exhausted, cold and hungry and felt incredibly happy. I’ve also been surrounded by every conceivable pleasure, and felt sad. Happiness can arrive unbidden, by focusing on other things, as the author suggests. But it can also be as simple as a choice. I decide to focus on what I am grateful for, to focus on the love in my heart no matter my outer circumstance and I can feel deep happiness, because I decided to focus on it.
