Kanye’s Upcoming Album

Kanye’s currently untitled album due out February 11th is sure ~making waves~ ;) The album was first called So Help Me God before being named Swish, moving on to Waves, and, for now, it’s nameless. The artist has been generating an impressive amount of hype by slowly updating his fans with pictures of the album tracklist that includes signatures from other artists who seem to be collaborating.

West has been putting so much into hyping this album that I wouldn’t be quite surprised if even his presidential campaign was part of a publicity stunt because he knew he’d be dropping soon. (Unfortunately, I think that may be wishful thinking.) He’s changed the name three times, brought on several up and coming (or at least not as unshakeably legendary as Kanye) artists, and engaged in some of the nastiest Twitter drama since the advent of the internet. He since deleted the tweets, but yours truly knows the rules of this internet game and pics-or-it-didn’t-happen aka screenshots-cause-wannies-delete.
SO here’s all of the terrible things Kanye tweeted at Wiz Khalifa:

Then Kanye said something like “your first single/album was cheesy as fuck and most of the rest were too,” not sure, I accidentally cut that one out. :(

Okay, he’s being funny now. Still mean, but joking too, right?

Fuuuuuck Kanye, pull it back. You’re really gonna talk shit on your ex and make a reference to one of your own songs all in one tweet?

Kanye then made himself out as a champion for all African Americans, which, I don’t know, maybe, but then quickly got personal again, now taking stabs at Wiz Khalifa’s child ???

IDK, this is a pretty funny set of tweets. I wish that Kanye had recorded that last one for me though because I’m super bad at making music because I have no rhythm so I’m just reading it in my head monotone. …

Then Kanye goes spirtual-yogie-on-crack and laments the fact that he absolutely had to go off on Wiz.
At this point Kanye was creating a considerable amount of buzz, with up to 20,000 retweets in a minute at times. Twitter was going crazy.
Then the whole internet started going crazy and someone updated Wiz Khalifa’s Wikipedia page:

Wiz Khalifa basically blew off Kanye for the most part, telling Kanye he had “blunts to roll.” But Taylor Gang stepped the fuck up and shot right back at Kanye.

If posting a pic of Kim Kardashian having sex on camera wasn’t brutal enough, Amber Rose decided to give her input as well.

Damn, what an exciting day on Twitter. Kanye and Kim and Wiz and Amber all seem to have re-conciliated with selfies and reports of good feelings galore.
It’s been an interesting time for hip hop in general with Earl Sweatshirt dropping a few new songs, and Chance the Rapper saying he’s always wanted to work with Earl, and Kanye’s upcoming Whatever It’s Called. But I don’t think these are independent occurrences. On Jan 26, Earl dropped “Bary,” which samples Kanye West’s “Barry Bonds.”
The next day, Chance tweeted the following.
I like to think that Earl was dropping a hint for us that he will be on Kanye’s album, and I’m really hoping that Chance was too. But I’m hoping Chance’s hint was that he and Earl will be on the same song. I’d love to see these two on a track together. They are two of my favorite young artists in the game right now, with distinct and different sounds that I am so interested to hopefully hear blend. I believe in them as artists to figure out how to make it work.
Anddddd now Tyler the Creator may be collaborating as well??? Slap my ass and call me Susan.
What a pretty photo that Tyler has still completely infused with his own style.
Should we expect Tyler on the album? I’d like to, but I wonder if he’s taking a different role here, making media or producing. Tyler and Kanye collabed together on “SMUCKERS” along with Lil’ Wayne, and that was one of my favorite songs of 2015. I would love to hear Tyler lay down some great lyrics for Waves/Swish/SHMG. I would also realllyyy love it if he did a music video for Kanye. Tyler is a brilliant director and I would love to see him bring out Kanye’s goofier, more playful side. It looks like, whatever is going on, Kanye and Tyler are working on making things together.
Kanye’s also been pushing “Kimoji” and the wedded couple has, in general, been promoting one another. The beat in this tweet is from Tyler’s song *deep breath in* “The Brown Stains of Darkeese Latifah Part 6–12 (REMIX)” *long exhale* from his most recent album, Cherry Bomb.
One more week til Kanye drops, and I can’t wait to see what he pulls in the next seven days and who ends up on the album.
