The best technique I learned from a therapist was to imagine the worst outcome from whatever I was currently afraid of — failing an exam, say — and then if that happened, what worse thing would come from that — dropping out of grad school, perhaps being indebted, addicted, homeless, alone — and I’ve been all those things. But not dead yet. And maybe death is nothing at all, but it’s probably not hell, so not as interesting as life. Thank you, Kris Gage. This is an inspiring collection.
