Collaborating With Other Disciplines
Over the past 10 weeks, I have been collaborating with Graphics Designers, Audio Designers as well as Animators, and trying to get their work into the projects I’ve worked on. It wasn’t as easy as finding another creative and having them make content for my project, it was an actual process that I had to go through.
During the development of Crab Meat, I had to not only convey the concept of Crab Meat to other disciplines, I also had to pitch the project to other disciplines. Right after I pitched Crab Meat to my peers, I had to reshuffle the pitch for Crab Meat, so that I could present it to Audio Designers and convey what kind of work I wanted to be featured in my projects.

It appeared that a few of the Audio Designers seemed to have liked my pitch for Crab Meat, as we had a few responses from collaborators. I regularly would have meetings and conversations with the Audio Design collaborators that had responded, by exchanging art bibles, having meetings talking about the kind of audio I wanted and needed as we as well as helping with their audio development in any way that I could — Specifically, helping with foley and technical limitations. Not only did I need to tell the Audio Designers what I needed, but I also had to keep them posted on the project deadlines to ensure that they could produce the best possible assets in time for the project deadline.
In the project prior to Twenty Twenty — I collaborated with Graphic Designers — having them design cards for the board game, Up Ship Creek. During this, I had to get tasks done by a deadline so that the graphic designers can implement my changes to the board game. So they graphic designers could know what kind of work we wanted for Up Ship Creek, I had to have a playtest with the collaborators so that they could see what the project actually was and the type of work I’d need from them.
In the future, I’ll always have to have a presentable version of my project so I can give it to a collaborator, so they can do their work and create the best possible product. As I did have issues at times with the collaborators — Audio Designers, Animators and Graphic Designers — actually knowing what my project is.
