Major Realizations — Weekly Goals Recap 001

Last Sunday, I set a couple of broad goals for the week. A week later, I’m pretty happy to say that I came through and accomplished a lot this week.

The Recap

I was able to wake up around 5AM each day. I started aiming for 4:30 about half way through the week but the earliest I could get up was around 4:45 since I was still tired.

There were times that I slept in as well since there were nights that I couldn’t sleep due to having a toddler still in my bed as well as making bad decisions to stay up and watch TV.

I also did really well at focusing on the scheduled task. Writing blog posts was the task that I prioritized the most since it was also the task I was most likely to put off.

I am writing this post at night, and a few family things came up which almost lead to me not finishing this post. I now know that I can’t leave a blog post until the night, it has to be finished sometime in the morning or afternoon.

The other goal I set was to build tools that help me stay motivated through accountability. I was able to make the two apps I’m working on have all the necessary functionality to keep me on track with my goals. I will definitely continue to use them and make them better.

The area that I had least progress was the rough draft for my new course. This was supposed to be the priority of the week and unfortunately I put it off until today. That being said, I’m still happy with the amount of videos I was able to record, even though it wasn’t as many as I initially wanted.

The Realization

I feel like this week has been much more productive than the past couple of months; and that productivity has lead to some major realizations.

I am happier when I accomplish more. I found that I was generally more patient and talkative with people around me. This is huge because I have an introverted personality, but enjoy having conversations with people.

I’ve also come to realize that the time I have to work in the morning is pure gold. There aren’t any major distraction from work, and I can get important tasks finished and out of the way faster.

Furthermore on waking up early, I found that my family has a strong influence on my actions and can lead to me not completing my tasks. This has brought me to the conclusion that I need to start waking up around 4:30 AM to get the maximum amount of time to work without distraction.

Its these realizations that I feel will help me be even more successful next week. I am going to use these teachings to shape my work schedule, and tweak it as I go.

I gotta say… this has been a good week!
