I appreciate you taking the time to send me your thoughts. It’s hard in an overview piece like this to go into the details. Hinduism, as far as I’ve understood it, is such a mosaic as far as practices/what is considered important purity and impurity wise. It may not impact all believers/practitioners, but the taboos certainly impacts some.

I didn’t intend this piece as a condemnation of any faith. As a Jew, I understand that what I wrote about Judaism here doesn’t define my experience with my body as well. This piece is really a focus not on every person’s experience, but instead on how menstruation is defined institutionally/in texts/by those in power of the religion.
