Start From Balikpapan

“what are you doing? nothing’s there” someone said to me, questioning my decision to start “something” in Balikpapan city. “Something” that recently become HoneyBear Studio. Its quite logical when I think about her question, compare to Jakarta and Bandung, its not promising to build a startup that focus on develop apps. Government and private companies already used to get their solution from Java Island rather than having their software develop with “something” build in this “oil city”. With economic condition at early 2016 in Balikpapan, its a logical to move out from here and get some jobs in Java Island, main Island where promising startup and great companies have their basecamp.

Even though there are many reasons to not start something and just go, but it doesn’t change the fact that this city has a lot of opportunity to start “something”. The chance are 50:50. Success or failure. There are only two kinds of result. And I don’t even think about it anymore. Just do what I gotta do and keep moving on. So, this is the path that I’m going trough. It started in the city where honey bears have their nest and wherever it goes later the name will always be HoneyBear Studio.
