Jul 12th: Hanging Around

Free day in the city. Sightseeing, eating, shopping.

Me, Julia and Gigi decided to spend some time together. We met around noon so it was the perfect time to find some place to have a really good lunch meal. And I can tell you we were successful in it.

Our next stop was Gwanghwamun. We met a statue of one of the biggest warriors of Korea and also King Sejong the Great, who is on every 10.000 paper money.

We also met other AIESEC members who were running “Global Festival”. There were around 10 stands where trainees from all around the world were presenting their countries to Koreans.

The grass path was amazing to walk without shoes. The temperature here is about 40°C and humidity 50% so it was really refreshing. As we walked we arrived to Gyeongbokgung Palace, one of the most popular sights in Seoul. We were lucky because there was a guard changing ceremony going on so we saw their splendid costumes and listened to the accompanying music.

We decided not to go inside the palace today because we will go there with other trainees later on. So don’t worry, one of the most amazing places in Korea will be here but not now.

Julia had to go to her part-time job around 5 p.m. so me and Geegee went to Myeong-dong. This dong (neighbourhood) is known for one of the best shopping areas in Seoul. It all about fashion, food and cosmetics.

At the end of the day we went to the restaurant were they make traditional Korean food. Those balls in the picture are Mandu dumplings and they are so yummy! I don’t know why I heard that Korean cuisine is not good … I think I am falling in love with it.
