Happiness is Karaoke — Hoods Guru

Who doesn’t like standing up in front of strangers while embarrassingly singing No Scrubs or Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of their lungs? Whether you’re the next Canadian Idol or candidate for Canada’s Worst Singer, grab a couple friends, choose a top hit or classic throwback, sing along, and show everyone your awesome singing voice.

Several bars in Toronto offer Karaoke nights for all you stars looking to get in the spotlight, so here are a few recommendations from Hoods Guru:
Every Monday at Sneaky Dee’s is Karaoke night with over 15,000 songs to choose from! It starts at 10pm and is free, so head on over early to make sure you have a spot. It’s definitely more entertaining when you’ve had a couple drinks in you, so grab one of their $3 drinks before 11pm and you’ll be singing a little off key.
Located right in downtown Toronto is Bar +, offering a unique and fun night of private rooms that can fill up to 25 people. It’s $25 per hour for a group of 5, and open every night for you karaoke lovers. The rooms are perfect for a birthday, a random night out, or if you’re just looking to party and sing a long to some tunes. They offer a variety of drinks, as well as you can get bottle service if you’re feeling a little bit crazy! If you want to dance around and put on a little show, you can do it here with their wireless microphones.
Join The Office Pub Wednesday through Saturday at 9:30pm to sing your heart out and belt some of your favourite lyrics. This is a great place if you and your friends are looking for a casual place to hang out and do karaoke! If you want a more private spot you can reserve their 3rd floor for any kind of party. With over 40,000 songs you have no excuses not to be up and singing! They have drink and food specials daily so head on over for a night filled with endless memories.
Located in the middle of Koreatown, XO Karaoke has over 500,000 songs to select from…that’s a lot of songs! The rooms are affordable, ranging from small, medium, and large. This is a great place to come with friends and is open till 3am on weekends. Every time I’ve come here I turn into a singing superstar and spending more money than I should of.
Don’t let them fool you with their “grand opening” sign as it’s been there for years! Being one of the largest karaoke venues in the city, BMB Karaoke is open till 5am on Friday and Saturdays if you’re feeling to sing after a night out of dancing. They have a wide selection of songs in all different languages, with rooms starting at $20 per hour. This place is great but definitely has a grungy feel to it, reminding me of a friend’s basement kind of way. It’s always a fun time but you definitely need a drink or two here to really be feeling the vibe.

Not to sure what to do tonight? Go out with some friends and test out your singing abilities at one of these awesome karaoke nights! There are so many more places around Toronto — check out Freezone Karaoke, Fox and Fiddle, The Monarch Tavern,Cadillac Lounge, and Gladstone Hotel.
So don’t wait. Go sing your heart out for those 20 solid seconds of the song you really know only the chorus to, and have your 3 minutes of fame!
