For Project One the goal was to capture images that show a good sense of figure ground relationship. There wasn’t very much limitation to it so I didn’t want to limit myself either. I wanted to aim for capturing shadows and using light although in the end, it didn’t quite turn out that way. I have a few stand alone photographs but the majority gravitate towards the melting snow. Many images are high contrast as they were taken midday but there are a couple taken indoors as well. The theme of my images would probably circulate around figure ground ambiguity. I liked getting as up close as possible to the melting ice and using angle to emphasize focal point. I wanted to use the juxtaposition of the subject and perspective to create mood. With the melting snow and ice images I tried to portray them as landscapes of a new world. I’d like to say that my images unify with one another.
