Everyone including myself, we all juggle to balance our life between working, studying, relationship, health, and mental state.
We are so easy to be carried away from the previous talks, the next projects, the past encounters or the following meetings that we forget about the now moment.
We are so easy to be distracted from the present tasks and keep bouncing back and forth with tiny tasks without really noticing that time is passing.
We forget to appreciate our moment, we know time is priceless and that we have to make the best of it all the time, but the truth is we can hardly keep this motto in mind.
When I was with my friends in every meeting, after coming back from the washroom, what I mostly saw was that most of my friends were holding their phones and sticking their eyes to the screens, and to be honest if I had not got to washroom, I would have been one of them also, but the moment when you stepped outsides of the usual circle, and have a wider sight of what is happening, you start to realize the differences. So I just silently put my phone asides and looked at everyone with an awkward moment, and simply because I didn’t want to be one of them.
So I want to introduce to you about mindfulness. Mindfulness is not just simply about treasure the present moment, but it is also about focusing on one thing and avoid the distraction.
Dreaming about the long future, the following weeks or months or years, handling multiple tasks simultaneously such as checking emails, opening many tabs on laptops, changing the songs we love on youtube, etc. have pulled us out from completing the major task that we wished to finish 100%.
Multi-tasking is a trend, is a popular term nowadays, but for me, it’s a myth now. People thought that they are productive in terms of multitasking, but it’s actually counterproductive. They thought it saves time, but it’s time-consuming. It pulled people attention away and drain their energy to really refocus on the current task.
Have you also ever wondered whether we are actually focusing to enjoy the taste of the food melting in our mouth or checking our phone instead? People keep complaining about the sucked commute that they have to suffer every morning, but have they ever tried to turn off their noisy minds and grumbling talks insides their heads and to really pay attention to the outsides world, the living things, the movements, the sounds, the air, and everything instead?
We all drifting our minds somewhere else without controlling and give it the limit to stop rambling around.
People regret and ruminate about the past experience or plan ahead for the long-range future.
We skip things, we rush with the time, chase the goals, but forget to hit pause and think long.
We keep blaming ourselves for not making the most of our time, regretting not spending more time with the people we love, for not give a try and take a shot, for taking things for granted and for not appreciating the moment. And by the time we realize this, our youth has already passed.
Time is a harsh man, he does not accept the apology and turn back.
We slowly respond to all the opportunity since we believe that it’s going to happen the second time, yet all the windows are already closed.
So to be mindful is to consciously awake our minds at hand, to concentrate on the present moment, to separate yourself from your noisy mind and hidden internal turbulence, to stop worrying and seize the now moment.
Take a deep breath, exhale by lungs, inhale by belly and closes your eyes.
Meditation is also great practice for people who want to master mindfulness and seek serenity in their mind in the chaos, bustling and fast-paced living.
And it’s not just simply to live in the moment but to live beyond that term, to live in the moment of every minute, every second and every-minute-second.
Once you master your own mindfulness, you will find that it’s not hard at all to earn productivity, to sustain with stress, to tolerate with yourself, to appreciate the people we love, to fully enjoy every moment and to enhance our sense of well-being. Remember that things take time, so be patient with mindfulness. Give yourself time to practice it.
So then why instead of wasting our time on distraction, feeling stress out with simultaneous occurrences and not entirely enjoying the precious moment that we are having,
