This marks day #1 while building hoop.is.
Hoop.is (now hoo.gy) is a web-application that allow folks to rent or lease tools and equipments. The idea came in my mind a couple of months ago, while searching for a standup desk and a glass whiteboard for rent in Montreal,Quebec. I came to find out that some other companies/individuals may be interested in renting tools and equipments on short term, instead of buy-and-sell later.
The idea/workflow is simple — users will connect to the site, search for tools/equipments available close to their locations, make reservation of the tool/equipment. In long terms, I will hook same day delivery companies to make the experience more enjoyable. Users will be able to post equipments they want to lease too!
Today(Friday 19th 2014), I set-up the office, made research about the company name and website, purchased SSL certificate, registered email at Google for small businesses, created Facebook Page and Twitter account, and created this Medium account (it will be used as a blog temporarily).
The research took more than 3 hours, purchase the domain and SSL took an additional hour. Creating a Facebook page and Twitter account took another hour.
The problem till the end of the day is — Google cannot verify my domain name, hoop.is, and the registrar has no telephone number for assistance. Blog/Twitter are not verified till now, and additional analytics services cannot be created using the [email]@hoop.is!
I will post all procedures on medium, for folks who wonder what it takes to create a company and a product at the same time, with limited resources.
