I Want You to Tell Uncle Sam That He Has Egg on His Face

By Hope K

Do you ever get that feeling of déjà vu when you read about Nicaragua? I know I do.

I hadn’t thought about Daniel Ortega since the early nineties at the latest. Then riots hit the news in June. Today I’m reading about people being disappeared again. I guess I thought that mess had all straightened itself out. Duh. I’m a little slow sometimes.

The United States has been manipulating Nicaragua ever since it obtained the economic power necessary to do so. It was conquered by the Spanish and the British, and from what I can tell, the US started doing the same in the early 1900s, when it deposed Zelaya and established military bases.

The architects of war decide Nicaragua needs a revolution every few decades, and it appears to be Nicaragua’s time again.

The last time I heard so much about Nicaragua, it was called “Iran-Contra.” That phrase was constantly repeated on the national news, but I didn’t know its tentacles had squirmed into rural Arkansas. The CIA used an airport in my state to exchange arms for drugs and to train Contra death squads.

The media blamed it on the “leftists” then, and they blame it on them now. Anytime you hear them talk about failed socialist governments, just realize they mean CIA regime change. There’s no point in even taking sides.

Pobrecita. Nicaragua is a beautiful country.

Anyhoo, my point is that the same thing happens over and over again.

It’s gotten downright embarrassing. It’s like having breakfast at the Cracker Barrel with old hungover Uncle Sam, hollering at the waitress about Commies with yolk in his beard.

It’s time to tell Uncle Sam he has egg on his face.

Those of us who are from this country they call America have a duty to call out the BS. If it were your friend or beloved family member, wouldn’t you care enough to do the same?

Aren’t you tired of being lied to? Call it out. It’s the patriotic thing to do. This country will not get any better unless people speak up. It’s gotten crucial.

If you don’t choose to do so now, you might not have the choice at all soon.

I think that Uncle Sam is abusing Nicaragua again, and I’m calling BS. He says it’s all about freedom and democracy, but really it’s about him stealing her tips when he thinks nobody’s looking.

Uncle Sam, you’re drunk. Wipe that egg off your face and go home.
