Knowing your face shape helps in many ways to choose the haircuts or hairstyle as per your face shape. Also the face shapes changes. Here, in this blog you will identify the closest face shape that matches yours.

Measure your face shape with a flexible measuring tape as used by tailors. Note down the measurement. Measure the following key distance of your face.

1. Forehead Width

In order to know your face shape, you need to find out which parts are long, which are short or same.

Measure the distance across your forehead at the widest point, from hairline to hairline.

2. Cheekbones Width

The width of your cheekbones is especially important when it comes to picking a hairstyle.

From your hairline above your cheekbone, measure the distance across your face to the same spot on the other side.

3. Jawline Width

Measure from the tip of your chin to below your ear at the point at which your jaw angles upwards. Of course, you have a jaw on both sides of your face, so multiply that number by two to get your jawline length.

4. Face Length

To find out the length of your face, run the tape measure from the center of your hairline to the tip of your chin. For follicularly challenged men with either shaved or bald heads, estimate the point where your hairline would be.

DETERMINING YOUR FACE SHAPE

Now that you’ve gathered your measurements and a list of characteristics, sort through the following face shapes listed below, eliminating the types with descriptions that don’t align with your own facial findings.

1. Square: All measurements are fairly similar. The angle of the jaw is sharp rather than rounded.

2. Round: Cheekbones and face length have a similar measurement. They are larger than forehead and jawline, which also have a similar measurement. The angle of the jaw is soft and much less defined.

3. Rectangle/Oblong: Face length is the greatest measurement. Forehead, cheekbones, and jawline are similar in size.

4. Diamond: Face length measures largest. Then, in descending order: cheekbones, forehead, and smallest is jawline. The chin is pointed.

5. Heart: Forehead measures greater than the cheekbones and jawline. The chin is pointed.

6. Triangular: Jawline measures greater than cheekbones, which measure larger than forehead.

7. Oval: Face length is greater than the width of the cheekbones, and forehead is greater than the jawline. The angle of the jaw is rounded rather than sharp.

Once you’ve figured out your face shape, you can begin to make more informed choices on everything from your hairstyle and beard to your sunglasses.
