Hi Mateo, thank you for sharing your thoughts. Again it’s common misconception that medieval armor weighted up to 50 kilograms.
The battle armor wasn’t heavier than 25–27 kilograms, because warrior need to move in it and fight.
The armor for tournaments is a different thing. There people cared only about protection of the body, leaving behind any mobility. So yes jousting armor was too heavy for person to walk, and it was made on purpose. To apply more thick sheet of metal, and fixing the head, it allowed people to survive after getting hit by a lance.
As for Japanese swords, I need to study more this field, but technology level of fifteenth century developed armor invulnerable to any cuts by swords. Even sharp sword of good steel won’t make sufficient damage to a knight’s armor. That’s why appeared war hammers and poleaxes.
