The “thug ball” that the Pistons, Knicks, Pacers and Heat played in the 90’s nearly ruined the sport for me. Encouraging young players to work on their passing, ballhandling, and shooting skills (as opposed to dumping it into the post and standing around waiting for the double team) is not only good for the game, it’s more fun. Dribbling up and casting off form 26 feet (i.e., behind the 3 point line) is NOT a bad shot if you can hit it 40% of the time.
