I have come across hundreds, and I mean literally hundreds of people, whether on Youtube, Instagram or Twitter, that are constantly asking for people to follow them on Snapchat. This “Follow” cult has definitely gone too far!
However, if you are building your empire, you can use this to your advantage. If you know your market and people who you are targeting, social media may just be the best way for you to spread the word about, well, you. The huge part of this Snapchat population, are younger people and kids. Those are the people that most of the companies are targeting.
Second thing and the one that makes Snapchat stand out when it comes to social media platforms is 100% visibility. This platform makes the best vertical video power out of all the platforms. This provides 100% visibility for their ads, and it can almost guarantee that their ad will be seen by many others.
Then we come to snaps. That’s what Snapchat is all about. Taking snaps. What makes this interesting, and what makes this pretty useful to entrepreneurs, is that those snaps disappear after 24 hours. What? How is that beneficial, you may ask. Well, that makes people that much more eager to see the snap of the influencer. Just knowing that something that the influencer posted will soon disappear will make you click on it right away. That’s why Snapchat is so effective when it comes to influencer marketing.
How Can I Be A Successful Snapchat Influencer?
Okay, you have chosen this platform for your work. Now what? Well, here are some tips.
1. Take over the brand
This doesn’t mean that you will take over other people’s companies. It means you will perform a takeover campaign. Many owners know this but you can suggest it to them yourself.
What this will mean is that you will become a partner. They won’t give this opportunity to every influencer that they hire so make sure that you have a good reputation and that you stand out of the rest. Trust is the keyword here.
Takeover campaign means that the brand will allow you to literally take over their Snapchat and post on their behalf for a short period of time. This is easier said than done because of all the planning that needs to be done prior to this. If you are given this opportunity you have to make that time count.
This tactic is already proven to be useful for many popular brands and companies, such as ABC Family, Disney, Shiseido.
2. Build Up The Tension
On Snapchat, you will have a 10 seconds window for making a statement. What you can do with this is build up the hype. The analogy to this is what movie producers do with their trailers. Each month there is a trailer, every other trailer showing more than the previous one, and then, just a few days before the main event, a complete trailer that will blow the fans away.
That’s exactly what you should do! Just don’t wait for months. Cleverly compose and post your snaps that will lead to a BOOM. That BOOM could be a download link or something similar.
3. Cross Over
I don’t mean crossover, this is not basketball. I mean cross over to other platforms. Snapchat allows you to save your snaps. You can use this feature to promote the same stuff on other platforms.
Maybe you know a good influencer that is using a different platform? Great! Ask him for help, send him your snap, and let him do the work for you on the other platform. This will target even bigger audiences and connect more people to the huge network of social media platforms.
4. Communicate With Your Followers
Snapchat has a feature, to be exact, it has a two-way dialogue. You can ask your followers to send you something regarding the company that you are working for. You can even make a shout out, or a giveaway to certain followers. Think of something clever and interesting. This will raise the alarm and people will jump all over your snaps. Who doesn’t like free stuff? Make it entertaining but also connected to the brand you are doing marketing for.
5. Use Snapchat Custom Filters
With this feature, you are able to create your own filters for different occasions. If there is an important event, party, product release by the brand, let the world know in a fancy way. This is called — On Demand GeoFilter.
