Bedtime for the kiddos had me sitting at almost exactly 7,000 steps. I would normally walk around the neighborhood to get to the 10,000 mark but it’s been rainy and gross outside so I was definitely not willing to walk around out there.
Don’t worry though- I made a goal and I have been sticking to it! This evening I decided to have an adventure with the wii again. Zumba is not my cup of tea (at least on the wii) as I saw from the 30 minute workout that garnered me practically NO steps at all!
So tonight I figured I would try the Jillian Michaels Fitness game I bought several years ago. I even pulled out the wii fit board and put new batteries in it to get it up and running and I was ready to go. I remember watching Jillian Michaels when The Biggest Loser first came out and thinking- man this woman is borderline mean! I totally need that!
Don’t worry, my trainer was not on par with Jillian Michaels on the mean factor. I will say though that she did find what motivated her people and she got them going! Anyway the wii fit board told me that I exceeded the weight that was allowable on the board. I kid you not, it literally said that. That felt awesome.
For the first time in a while though it didn’t just make me sad and depressed it made me angry! I was thinking to myself “how dare you try to tell me that I’m not capable of doing this workout with this board! Just because I weigh more than I should. I know I weigh more than I should and I’m trying to fix that for crying out loud! I’m gonna do this workout anyway!”
So….. you’ll be happy to know- that’s exactly what happened. Well- minus the board since it wouldn't recognize me anyway. I trained my butt off with that wii game for about 25 minutes and I felt beyond exhausted. My shirt was soaked and I was completely out of breath. From a wii game!
I was watching my steps like a hawk! I don’t need another wii Zumba incident over here! My steps are important people! By the end of the time I was still about 1500 steps away! This workout has balancing activities and monkey bar climbing- so I needed more lower body concentration. I decided to switch it up with one of my Just Dance games.
That was extremely fun and quickly rewarding. I think I managed to get those steps in with only 4 songs, but don’t quote me! I had a friend hit me up just minutes before my workout to see if I had hit my goal yet for the day and I had to tell her that I was fixin to knock it out- so I promised to send her the pic when I got there.
I actually love that I have people looking out for me and making sure I’m sticking to it this time. I know I’ve had so many false starts in the past that some of them probably gave up when they heard me say “oh this time is different!” Well the proof is in the pudding because this time really is different! As I type this I am sitting at 10,300+ steps. I love it!
When I got done with my workout tonight, which probably took a minimum of 45 minutes when all was said and done, I decided that I needed a reward for my awesome stick-to-it-ness. So I played guitar hero!
Not to shabby if I do say so myself! Well, you should probably know that this was after about 10 songs played. I mean I did have to warm up you know? Tonight we also tried a new recipe from the Trim Healthy Mama book for dinner. This one was chicken parm.
So I kind of forgot to buy almond flour and I was like no biggie I will just pulverize some almonds and be good to go right? Well….. that’s not exactly how it worked out. My skills at pounding almonds into powder are not the best so some bigger pieces remained. I personally didn’t mind because I love almonds. I did have some complaints however. Looks like next time we will use the real already made stuff.
