I completely understand your stance in that context. Yet teaching a class and writing software for profit are very different contexts.
Banning ES6 classes from use in a large dev shop is a totally different ball game. In the lab we can demand perfection. In the field, we often have to compromise. When used responsibly, ES6 classes are highly unlikely to have any negative impact to productivity, maintainability or most importantly, the end user’s experience.
