My opinion about Lithuanian people.

It is true, I am not here to judge anyone. I am just going to put my opinion forward as I noticed, far away from any personal judgment. I am not asking anyone to trust in what I am saying but let me tell you that what I say here is unbiased. Looks paradoxical right?

I believe that in every country at any time, exist two kinds of people-according to me- I am not an anthropologist nor am I a sociologist but from my experience I can say it with confidence: 1. People who are outgoing, friendly but not necessarily extrovert. Those people are gullible but not stupid. They cannot harm you verbally nor physically. They are cool and relaxed, peaceful and socially confident.

2. People who are likely to be different from the first kind but are not forcibly opposite. They would not be sociable but they tend to be open to others when it is inevitably necessary. They cannot dare to help neither ask for it. They are not bad but it is not easy to break the ice with them. They tend to not care about the others, they do not like to go out off their comfort zone.

The bottom line is that here too-in Lithuania- there are people of the two kinds. Like elsewhere in the world. It is totally NORMAL.

For the first time here, I didn’t live any kind of racism totally opposite to what I have been told before leaving-just twice young bastards shouting Allahu Abkber-. People here tend to like foreigners and talk to them. Old people looking at me in the streets, something new to them perhaps. Others would just talk to me in Lithuanian tolerating my bad skills with the language. Young people here are divided into two sorts I think. Those who have opened arms to the realms of the new world with it capitalism and globalisation. And those who are still connected to the roots of Soviet Union which was dissolved about 26 years ago. But this concerns older people more than anyone else. Because as a friend of mine Šarunas told me, “Old people have lived the best years of their lives under the umbrella of the Soviet Union.” the reason why these people are still not westernized.

It is said that Lithuania is famous for the beauty of its girls. Which I personally confirm. I come from a country where brown eyes, black eyes and black hair are very familiar. Here, blonde blue eyed girls. The typical Barbe doll. I am being subjective here anyways. My girlfriend is Lithuanian, the thing that makes me forcibly subjective. I like it when I am so close to a society to which I am TOTALLY different. Beautiful Miglė and I.

I have Lithuanian friends. They are the friends that anyone would ask for. I am very thankful for that. Like Thomas in this picture which I took one year ago in Izmir, Turkey.

That is what came to my mind so far. I will be sharing more.

Thanks for having time to read!
